Introducing the Art & Craft of Writing Poetry: Creating Your First Draft

September 30 2020 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

€40 – €105

A series of 3 Online Poetry Workshops with Annemarie Ní Churreáin

Annemarie is an award winning poet from Cloich Cheann Fhaola in the Donegal Gaeltacht and current writer in residence at Maynooth University of Ireland.

3 x Wednesdays @ 10am – 1pm; 30th September, 28th October, 25th November (Individual Workshop €40/ All 3 €105)

Whether you are a seasoned or a budding poet, one or all of these workshops will have something very special to offer you. In the first Annemarie will guide you through the creation of your first draft. During the second, and with no prior experience necessary, you’ll get the chance to experiment using the Irish language. In the third and final workshop you’ll learn how to shape your poem.

At the Poet’s House, which is now home to the Song House, Annemarie first began her writing journey during her school years. Today, her work continues to be heavily influenced by wild landscapes and the meaning embedded into rural environments in the form of place-name histories, mythological stories and folklore. We are delighted to welcome Annemarie back to the Song House this Autumn and to offer you this wonderful opportunity to participate in an online interactive poetry workshop series with her.

  • This will be an immersive online learning and interactive experience – places are limited to 12 attendees per workshop.
  • There will be three 3-hour workshops designed by Annemarie, with all levels in mind.
  • You may wish to participate in all three or just one workshop, depending on your experience.
  • Cost will be €40 per workshop or €105 for all three when booked together
  • See below for dates times & details of what each individual workshop will be focussed upon & how to book your spot
