We are hosting three exciting singing courses at the Song House in 2024, to suit differing abilities and interests, and more in the pipeline too.
Singing on The Wild Side with Sarah Garden
31st May - 7th June | 23rd - 30th August
The experience of Singing on the Wild Side is far more than just a singing holiday. We sing every morning in the gorgeous large sunny singing room, with its beautiful acoustic, that looks out onto Muckish mountain. By the end of the week you will find yourself rested, rejuvenated and restored to your centred & grounded self, with a repertoire of up to 12 harmony songs – and that’s just the beginning.
Our repertoire will be wide and varied. We normally have one or two songs that challenge us, then a mixture of Irish songs, world music, rounds, and improvisation.
We also do our best to introduce singers to the rich local Gaelic culture. You may find yourself moved to tears singing in the ruins of Ray church, or listening to a local singer singing in the ancient sean-nós style. You will have the afternoons to explore the beaches, mountains, rivers and historic sites that abound in the area. We also offer guided walks, kayaking, poetry and music evenings. Perhaps we will even have deepened our appreciation of the land, our place in it, our communities and ourselves.
A wide range of singers come on our holidays: from beginners to experienced and confident singers. Over the week our little community grows and develops, as we cook and eat together each evening, share experiences and sing together.

Songs from a Full Moon with Candy Verney & Lindsey Williams
(For more experienced singers)

Have you been singing in choirs for a few years now, and want to challenge yourself?
We are very excited to introduce you to Lindsey Williams, a superb and original song writer. Candy and Lindsey have been collaborating for over 10 years, and have written 2 books of choir songs together.
We realised that Lindsey's songs were good, that Candy's choral arrangements were good, but that the combination was something special. These songs have been sung by choirs across several countries, even crossing continents. You can hear some of them here.
The songs cover a range of topics...from wandering poets through to developing self-awareness, via eco concerns...the Tolpuddle Martyrs... the suffrage movement...the decline of the curlew...escaping over theBerlin Wall - we hope there's something here for everyone.
The best-known song. Life Lived Well, is an elegiac reflection on growing older and looking back on every aspect of the life you have lived.
We will be creating at least one new song, especially for this week. We'll also sing many other easy songs from a world music repertoire, plus rounds and singing games.
Treat yourself to a whole week of singing glorious harmonies, soul-filled lyrics, good craic and brilliant, relaxed teaching.
Who is this singing holiday for?
This week will be for singers with some experience: here’s your opportunity to challenge yourself, to really work on some pieces, and improve your choral sound too..
You still don’t have to read music- still a relaxed atmosphere. We will learn by ear, but we will also supply music for those who prefer this.
Over the week, our own little community will build, seed new friendships, connect to local people, explore the natural vibrant beauty surrounding us.
